The Australian Rural Nurses Inc. (AARN) is a professional association for nurses involved in rural practice. Members come from diverse rural settings: hospitals, community health and universities. The main criterion for membership is to be living or working in a rural setting. However, nurses who have an interest or involvement with rural nursing who live in metropolitan areas can become members.

Australian Nursing Council
The Australian Nursing Council Inc. (ANCI) is a peak national nursing body concerned with national standards and processes for the regulation of nursing within Australia. It was established by the Australian nurse regulatory authorities in 1992 as a forum for considering the regulation of nursing in Australia within a national focus. Each of the eight state and territory nurse regulatory authorities is represented on this Council.

The Australian Nursing Federation is the peak nursing organisation in Australia, representing 115,000 nurses professionally and industrially. The Federation is comprised of a national office with branches in each state and territory, where nurses can join up and participate in ANF activities.
